Molecular characterization of virulence factors in Staphylococcus aureus isolated from bovine subclinical mastitis in central Ethiopia

Abstract Purpose Staphylococcus aureus ( S. ) is the most important pathogen involved in bovine mastitis dairy production. produces a spectrum of extracellular protein toxins and virulence factors which are thought to contribute pathogenicity organism. The aim this work was isolate molecular characterize associated with subclinical central part Ethiopia. Methods A total 265 lactating cows from various farms four different geographical locations were screened by California test (CMT) for mastitis. One hundred thirty CMT-positive milk samples collected transported laboratory. Different biochemical tests polymerase chain reaction (PCR) used identification isolates. Finally, PCR performed detection genes. Results From screened, 49% n = 130) positive mastitic subjected bacterial culturing, one (76%) isolates identified based on phenotypic characters . Sixty-eight confirmed obtained using PCR. tested six genes tsst -1, hlb , eta sea clf A, ica D) Of all isolates, only two detected Out 68 25% 22% possessed genes, respectively. Conclusion presence having A) revealed that major concern nowadays affecting animal health, quality, yield. Further genomic study these will provide broad new insights virulence.
